Education Minister releases NIRF India Ranking 2021; IIT Madras tops in overall category

The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) which lists top universities and colleges in India has been released today, September 9. The Union Education Minister Dharmemdra Pradhan has released NIRF India Rankings 2021 at 12 noon. The NIRF India Ranking 2021 has been announced for eleven categories – Overall, University, Management, College, Pharmacy, Medical, Engineering, Architecture, ARIA (Atal Ranking of Institutions on Innovation Achievements), Law and Research Institutions more information on the official website of NIRF, nirfindia.org.

India Institute Technology, IIT Madras, has topped the list while IISc Bengaluru and IIT Bombay bagged second and third positions. A new category, Research Institutions, has been added to NIRF Rankings 2021. Indian Institute of Science, IISc Bengaluru topped the research category. This year every large institution has been given in common overall NIRF Rankings 2021 as well as a discipline specific rank as applicable.

The numbers of participants in the ranking procedure have increased with time. The rankings are released annually to recognize top universities, colleges and educational across the country. NIRF Ranking 2021 is broadly prepared on the basis of teaching, learning and resources, research and professional practice, etc. Last year also, IIT Madras had retained the top spot overall as well as in the engineering category.
