Prime Minister Narendra Modi is all set to inaugurate an international Cooperation and Convention Centre’s (VCC), ‘Rudraksh’, in Varanasi on Thursday. The convention centre aims to offer a glimpse of the cultural richness of the ancient city of Kashi.
According to a press statement by the PMO, PM Modi arrives in Varanasi around 12.15 pm on Thursday and spends five hours in his parliamentary constituency. He will also meet with local officials to review Covid-19 preparedness before holding a public meeting of as many as 6,000 people on the Banaras Hindu University (BHU) grounds.
Before inaugurating the convention centre, PM Modi addressed a crowd in Varanasi on Thursday. During his speech lauded Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath for successful handling of the second wave of Covid-19.
About the Convention Centre
Constructed with Japanese assistance, the state-of-the-art centre will make Varanasi an attractive destination for conferences, thus drawing more tourists and businesspersons to the city.
As many as 108 Rudraksha have been installed at the convention centre and its roof is shaped like a Shiva Linga, official were quoted by new agency PTI as saying.
