Raj Kundra Porn Case: Bombay High Court rejects Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe’s interim bail application

Bombay High Court on Saturday dismissed Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe’s plea challenging their remand in custody in a porn film racket case. As per ANI, “Bombay High Court dismisses businessman and actor Shilpa Shetty’s Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe’s applications challenging magistrate court’s remand order and seeking immediate release.” Raj Kundra was arrested on July 19th and subsequently was sent into judicial custody in the adult film racket case. 

According to reports, Bombay HC’s judge Justice AS Gadkari  said, “The remand for custody by the Metropolitan Magistrate is within the conformity of the law and does not require any interference.”Following his arrest and subsequent police custody, Kundra filed an appeal against the same at Bombay High Court. The businessman’s lawyers claimed that his arrest in the matter was “illegal.”

Other than that, Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe’s bail plea application is scheduled to be heard in Mumbai Session Court on August 10. Raj has been under judicial custody ever since he was arrested on July 19 for his alleged involvement in the creation and distribution of pornographic content. 

Recently, actress Sherlyn Chopra was called for an interrogation round by the property cell of the Mumbai Crime Branch. Sherlyn claimed after questioning that she was asked about her and Raj Kundra’s ‘sambandh’ and what other companies he owned. “I want justice for all the women and artists who have been victims of this pornography racket,” said Sherlyn.

Kundra has been named as a key conspirator by the Mumbai Police and is currently booked under the following: Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in addition to relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.
