Shilpa Shetty asserts “Even today women have to fight for their rights after their husbands”, hails Jhansi ki Rani as a ‘superwoman’

Shilpa Shetty has been in the news ever since her husband Raj Kundra ( on July 19) was arrested for his alleged involvement in creating and distributing pornographic content. The actress took a brief break from work and has now returned to the set of Super Dancer 4.

Sony TV released a new promo for the show, where the actress was seen talking about how women have to fight for their rights after their husbands.
Reacting to the performance, Shilpa said, “Every time I hear about Jhansi Ki Rani, I feel like it reflects the face of society. Because even today, women have to fight for their rights, after their husbands, they have to fight for their existence, for their children. This story gives us women the power to fight and not give up. Jhansi ki Rani was really a superwoman.”

Recently, a clip of Shilpa walking to the set from her vanity van went viral. Many fans and celebrities came in support of the Hungama 2 actress.

Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra is currently under judicial custody. Kundra has been named as a key conspirator by the Mumbai Police and is currently booked under the following: Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292, and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) in addition to relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

On August 02, Shilpa broke her silence on the ongoing case and released her official statement amid Raj Kundra’s arrest. The actress wrote, “All I will say is, as it’s an ongoing investigation, I have full faith in the Mumbai Police & the Indian judiciary. As a family, we are taking recourse to all our available legal remedies. But, till then I humbly request you – especially as a MOTHER – to respect our privacy for my children’s sake and request you to refrain from commenting on half-baked information without verifying the veracity of the same. I have been a proud, law-abiding Indian citizen and a hardworking professional for the last 29 years. People have put their faith in ME & I’ve never let anyone down. So, most importantly, I request you to respect my family’s and ‘my right’ to privacy in these times,” Shilpa Shetty shared.
