Tabu completes 30 years in Bollywood

An unbelievable and overwhelming moment for Indian actress Tabu, as she completes 30 years in Indian Cinema (Headline)

Tabassum Fatima Hashmi, born on 4 November 1971, better known by her stage nameTabu, is an Indian actress who largely acted inHindi films, Telegu and Tamil language films. Regarded as one of the most consummate actresses in India, It has been three decades for Tabu in the film industry and the actor, considered one of India’s finest, says it is a moment of pride and gratitude for her.

Tabu has often frolicked troubled, complicated women in a range of characters, from fiction to literary, in both conventional and sovereign cinema, as well as some American productions. The actor, who has been awarded the Padma Shri, the fourth highest civilian honour of the country, has also acted in English-language movies like Mira Nair-directed The Namesake and Ang Lee’s Life of Pi.

Tabu had an uncredited appearance in Bazaarin 1982, and later in Hum Naujawan in 1985. At the age of 14, she played Dev Anand’s daughter in the film. Her first role as an actress was in the Telugu film Coolie No.1 in the year 1991 co-starring with Venkatesh. In December 1987, producer Boney Kapoorlaunched Prem starring Tabu opposite Sanjay Kapoor. The film took 8 years in the making and it turned out to be the biggest flop in Boney Kapoor’s production career. Tabu’s career took off well after this film, in spite of the long delay. Tabu will be soon seen in her next feature in Anees Bazmee-directed Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2.

In an Instagram post on late Monday night, the 49-year-old Tabu said, It is “slightly unbelievable” that she has been around for such a long time in the industry.
“Slightly unbelievable and thoroughly overwhelming to know that it’s 30 years since my first film Coolie No.1 released. It’s a moment of much pride, along with many other emotions. Most importantly of gratitude”
