Biopic on Comedian Kapil Sharma announced! The Film is titled ‘Funkaar’

Comedian Kapil Sharma is one of the most celebrated comedians in our part of the country. Many hate him and even ignore him but there is a section of public who like him as well. And now, after biopics on Olympic athletes and the Indian army personnel, now one will son be made on the comedian Kapil Sharma!

It was on Friday, 14th January 2022, that producer Mahaveer Jain announced the film on the comedian’s life under Lyca productions. The film is to be titled Funkaar and will be directed by Mrighdeep Singh Lamba who also directed Fukrey.

Lamba currently has all his focus on the third instalment of Fukrey and has stated he is, “looking forward to bring to the audience, the story of India’s most beloved FUNKAAR. Kapil Sharma.” Producer Mahaveer Jain and Lyca Productions have collaborated with Akshay Kumar for ram Setu, Sanjay Lela Bhansali for Man Bairagi, they have also collaborated on Good Luck Jerry that has Janhvi Kapoor playing the lead in the Anand L. Rai directorial. The film is originally a Tamil biopic on chess champion Vishwanathan Anand by Lyca Productions.

Mahaveer Jain stated, “Billions of people get their daily dose of dopamine, courtesy Kapil Sharma. We all need love, life, and laughter. We are proud to present comedy superstar Kapil Sharma’s untold story on the big screen, in a big way.”

Now, However, the Netflix series that has Kapil Sharma in a lead role, “Kapil Sharma: I am not done yet” will be premiering on the OTT platform on 28th January.

A note from Netflix read, “From the streets of Amritsar to the sets of Mumbai, Kapil Sharma has been entertaining us for a while now, but he is not done yet! “Our favourite comedian is all set to tickle your funny bone, this time on Netflix with his first comedy special marking his streaming debut.”
