The Real Madrid forward has always denied any wrongdoing but prosecutors controvert he had encouraged former France international team-mate Valbuena to pay some blackmailers in order to keep a sexually explicit tape private.

However, Benzema did not attend the trial previous month. Moreover, he was absent for the verdict, will plea the conviction.
Subsequently, lawyer Antoine Vey said, “This outcome in no way corresponds with the reality of events.”
The four other respondents on trial were handed sentences of between 18 months suspended to two-and-a-half years in prison by a Versailles court.
Meanwhile, the case dates back to June 2015.
