A call at the main control room of the Oshiwara Police station in Mumbai during the noon of 20th January 2022, alerted the police about the death. The police then confirmed that 48-year-old Jason Watkins hanged himself but no suicide note was found. He was then taken to the Cooper Hospital where he was declared brought dead, said the police. The body was sent to a nearby government hospital for post-mortem after a case of accidental death was registered.
Jason was a choreographer as well and had assisted Remo is many projects. He was also an assistant director. Liselle D’Souza the sister of the deceased and Remo D’souza’s wife also mourned her brother’s death. She told Etimes that her brother died when their father was undergoing dialysis and that it was him who found his dead son and that she thinks it was the loss of their mother which triggered his suicide because apparently Jason was very close to her. “Daddy forced the door open somehow and found Jason had taken his life. Daddy has been undergoing dialysis since some time. I don’t know what he did to himself as I am just on my way to Papa’s house. Jason and my dad stayed together. I think he couldn’t come to terms with our mother’s death, which happened in 2018. He was very close to her.”
We hope the family gets the courage to bear this loss. We wish the family all the strength at this hour of bereavement and pray Jason’s soul rests in peace.
