As per ANI, “Case against singer-actor ‘Yo Yo Honey Singh by his wife under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act | Singh’s counsel seeks his exemption from personal appearance, citing that he’s unwell. He assured Delhi Court that he’ll appear on the next date of the hearing. Delhi Court seeks medical report and Income Tax returns of Yo Yo Honey Singh, says “no one is above the law.” Singh’s counsel says they will file medical records and Income Tax returns at the earliest.”

Singh has denied all allegations of domestic violence against him as false and malicious. Taking to his Instagram account, the singer-rapper in the statement wrote, “I am deeply pained and distressed by the false and malicious allegations levied against me and my family by my companion/wife of 20 years, Shalini Talwar. These allegations are severely odious.”

I have never issued a public statement or press note in the past despite being subjected to harsh criticism for my lyrics, speculation about my health and negative media coverage in general. However, I see no merit in maintaining a studied silence this time because some of the allegations have been directed at my family – my older parents and younger sister – who have stood by me during some very difficult and trying times and comprise my world. The allegations are cynical and defaming in nature,” he further said.

Shalini filed a domestic violence case against Singh and sought Rs 10 crore compensation under the Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act. She said she felt like a “farm animal… being treated cruelly”.
Shalini also revealed that she was subjected to numerous incidents of physical, verbal, mental, and emotional abuse at the hands of her husband and his family.

“Government has asked to shut down the policy. We have said we will not enforce it till the Data Protection Bill comes out. That is open-ended because we don’t know when the Bill going to come out … We have said we will not do this for a while. Suppose the bill allows me to do it, we will have completely different ramifications,” senior advocate Harish Salve made the submission on behalf of WhatsApp.

A report in Bar and Bench further quoted Salves as saying the Union Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MEITY) has communicated to the instant messaging platform that its privacy policy is against the Information Technology (Reasonable Security Practices and Procedures and Sensitive Personal Data or Information, Rules 2011.

The Centre had earlier told the court that it has written to Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg on the issue and a reply is awaited and therefore, there was need to maintain the status quo with regard to implementation of the policy.
