After remaining unchanged for several days, petrol & diesel prices have been reduced on the first day of September by 13-15 paise across metro cities. Petrol is now retailing at Rs 101.34 in Delhi, whereas diesel at Rs 88.77. In India’s financial capital Mumbai, petrol is being sold at 107.39 per litre, and diesel at Rs 96.33 per litre.

In Kolkata, petrol prices stand at Rs 101.72 per litre and diesel prices at 91.84 per in the city. In Tamil Nadu’s capital Chennai, petrol prices being sold at Rs 99.08 per litre and diesel prices at 93.38 per litre.

Last month, Tamil Nadu announced at Rs 3 per litre cut in petrol prices. Presenting his maiden budget to the Assembly after the state polls in April, Tamil Nadu finance minister Palanivel Thiaga Rajan said the tax cut on petrol would mean a Rs 3 per litre reduction.

Later, the Puducherry government also said the territorial administration has cut value-added tax (VAT) on petrol by 3%. With the cut, the price of petrol were said to be reduced by Rs 2.43 per litre in Puducherry and Karaikal regions.

Fuel rates vary across the states due to value-added tax (VAT). The difference in prices in states occurs on account of local taxes like VAT or freight charges. Rajasthan levies the highest VAT on petrol and diesel in the country, followed by Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. India is dependent on imports to meet nearly 85 per cent of its needs and so benchmarks local rates to international oil prices.

Taapse Pannu, the glowing girl from Haseen Dilbura has won all hearts for the film. And now the actress is going to rule hearts through the film “Shaabash Mithu” a biopic of Mithali Raj. After Sushant Singh Rajput’s MS Dhoni, this is the next movie being made on a cricketer and the first of a female cricket player.

The cricketers biopic is now to be directed by Srijit Mukherjee after the raees director Rahul Dholakia opted out, stated Etimes. Moreover Etimes was the first to report Taapsee’s role in this film. Dholakia before opting out had completed 30% of the film in the Ramoji Roa Studio of Hyderabad. Now not knowing the process these scenes might be shot again under Srijit’s direction and guidance.

The shoot of this biopic had been put to an halt in Hyderabad because of the 2nd Covid wave but all hands down the film might start it’s shoot soon in the studios again. A source revealed “Their next shoot stop was Bengaluru, where a Kannada star would have joined the cast,”
After the break on being shot again, would the first half of the film’s direction would still be of Dholakia? Or would Srijit cut and shoot again the done part?

Prices of petrol and diesel remained unchanged on July 17 for the second day, following a hike on July 15,…

Prices of petrol and diesel remained unchanged on July 17 for the second day, following a hike on July 15, which took fuel prices to record high in India. The last increase, which was 40th since May 4, saw petrol prices hiked by 34-35 paise per litre, while the cost of diesel increased by 15-16 paise a litre.

With no change in fuel prices, people in Delhi today have to pay Rs 101.54 litre for petrol and diesel costs Rs 89.87 a litre.

While petrol continues to remain at an all –time high of Rs 107.54 litre in Mumbai, diesel costs Rs 97.45 a litre in the financial capital.

In Chennai, petrol costs Rs 102.23 litre and diesel Rs 94.39; in Kolkata, people have to shell out Rs 101.74 for a litre of petrol and Rs 93.02 for diesel; and in Bengaluru, petrol is dearer by Rs 104.94 litre and diesel by Rs 95.26 per litre.

The revision cycle started soon after results for the state elections were declared. Since May 4, petrol price has been hiked on 40 occasions while diesel rates have gone up 37 times and have been reduced on one occasion.

The relentless price increase has pushed petrol rates above the Rs 100 a litre marks in most places in 15 states, including Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Andra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Odisha, Tamil Nadu, Kerala, Bihar and Punjab and at a couple of districts in Uttar Pradesh and Haryana.

Petrol neared Rs 100 mark in the national capital as prices were hiked by 35 paise on Sunday.

Oil Marketing Companies hiked prices on Sunday after keeping them unchanged for a day.

Petrol is selling at Rs 99.51 litre in Delhi while diesel is priced at Rs 89.36.

In the other key cities too petrol prices continued to climb to new highs. In Mumbai, it was priced at Rs 105.58 per litre, while in Chennai also it has surpassed the Rs 100 mark and is currently at Rs 100.44 a litre.

Price of petrol in Kolkata is also inching closer to the three-figure mark and on Sunday it was sold for Rs 99.45 a litre.

In tandem with petrol prices, diesel prices also were raised on Sunday. Price of diesel in Mumbai, Chennai, and Kolkata was Rs 96.91, Rs 93.91, and Rs 92.27 per litre, respectively.

Diesel crossed the Rs 100 mark in some places in Madhya Pradesh while petrol crossed the Rs 100 mark in Sikkim.

Officials in oil companies attribute the consistent increase in fuel prices to development in the global markets where both product and crude prices have been firming up for the past couple of months on demand rise amidst the slowing of the pandemic. However, a closer look at the fuel retail prices in India gives a picture that it is the high level of taxes that is keeping fuel rates higher even in times when global oil prices are firm.

Stadiums and sports complexes are likely to reopen in Delhi from Monday as a part of the next round of relaxations being offered by Delhi Disaster Management Authorities (DDMA).

It has, however, decided against lifting the restrictions in the Delhi Metro for at least another week. The DDMA has not officially issued any order. However, sources said unless the Chief Minister’s Office or the Lt. Governor’s secretariat overrules the recommendations before them for their approval, the metro will continue to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity in coaches.

“For now, stadiums and sports complexes will reopen from Monday. No other relaxations have been recommended. However, the final order may or may not have further changes,” an official said. Last week, gyms, yoga institutes, and banquet halls were allowed to reopen.

While most activities have been allowed in Delhi, spas, cinemas, theaters, and multiplexes remain shut. Swimming pools have also not been allowed to reopen.

On the question of the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) demanding further relaxations due to long queues outside stations, the official said, “The DMRC’s argument has merit. But further relaxation might lead to huge crowds of passengers inside trains and stations. Metro will have to manage the system better by making public to people to avoid unnecessary travel.”

Currently, the metro has been allowed to operate with 50 per cent seating capacity, which means eight coach train, that can usually carry up to 2,400 passengers, can now run with around 250-300 people. More passengers are not allowed to stand inside coaches during the course of the journey.
