His sudden ouster from the Karan Johar film Dostana was attributed to his over-confidence and the amount of money he was asking to be part of the film. And when the news of his ouster from the Johar camp reached the public, there was a huge outcry and people started pointing fingers at Karan Johar for promoting Nepotism. After a long time, Kartik is finally promoting his film Bhool Bhulaiyaa 2 and it was during these promotions that he was asked about this incident and his exit from Dostana 2.  Well,m it was during an interaction with Indian Express that he was asked this question to whichhe stated that he just focusses on his work and nothing else, “I just focus on my work. That’s all I would like to say on this. Look at my (film) line-up (right now).”

He further stated that whatever is being said about lobbies being against him are just plain rumours, “What happens, at times, is people make ‘baat ka batangad’ (make mountain out of a molehill). There is nothing more to it. No one has so much time (to think so much). Everybody just wants to work, do good work. Other than that, things are just rumours.”

Well, whether Kartik is saying the truth or not cannot be said at this juncture. After all, he also has to save his career from the bigwigs of the industry and at the end of the day, it is the Johars and the Khans who he will ultimately ask for quality work. One of his biggest achievements was the talk show titled Koffee with Karan which shows celebrities from the filmdom sitting on a couch and bantering away with the man himself. However, things are looking pretty grim now. Well, the very popular show will no more be aired on television. Yes, you read that right.

Recently, the show was all geared up for its 7^th season. There were rumours about Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor being the first guests on the show. If media reports were to be believed, Akshay Kumar, Kiara Advani and Anil Kapoor were also expected in the later episodes of the show. But on the morning of 4^th May, 2022 Karan released an official statement which read that the show has been canned and is not coming back.

His statement read, “Hello, Koffee with Karan has been a part of my life, and yours, for 6 seasons now. I’d like to think we’ve made an impact and even found our place in pop culture history. And so, it is with a heavy heart that I announce that Koffee with Karan will not be returning… – Karan Johar.” Karan shared the statement with a caption that read, ‘Important announcement’.

The Satyamev Jayate actor took to his social media handle to reveal his status on Monday. He stated that he was in contact with a COVID positive person three days ago.

“I came in contact 3 days ago with someone who I later learned had COVID. Priya and I have tested positive for COVID. We have been quarantined at home so haven’t been in contact with anyone else,” he wrote on Instagram.

He also stated that that the two of them are experiencing mild symptoms. “”We are both vaccinated and experienced mild symptoms. Please stay well and healthy. Masks up.”

Amid the third wave of the Coronavirus pandemic several B’town celebrities have tested positive for the virus. At first it was Karan Johar who tested positive, later, Kareena Kapoor, Mrunal Thakur, Nora Fatehi and Shilpa Shirodkar too shared their positive status. Most recently, Lionel Messi too revealed that he had tested positive for the virus.

However, B-Town filmmaker Karan Johar recently took to his Twitter handle to urge Arvind Kejriwal, Lt Governor Shri Anil Baijal to open cinemas as it is one of the hygienic places. It read, “We urge the Delhi Government to allow cinemas to operate. Meanwhile, the producers of ‘Jersey’ postponed the film yet again amid rising coronavirus cases in the country and concerns over the Omicron variant.

Whereas, the Maharashtra government last week issued new guidelines, ordering cinema halls to operate at 50 per cent capacity.

Nevertheless, Dharma Productions issued a statement announcing a recast of the film. “Due to professional circumstances, on which we have decided to maintain a dignified silence – we will be recasting Dostana 2, directed by Collin D’Cunha. Please wait for the official announcement soon.” There is no more update yet.

On the other hand, in one interview Kartik was asked if he’s bothered by the negative stories about himself, and he replied in Hindi, “A lot of times you ask yourself, ‘Why is this happening?’ But more than myself, I feel for my family, because they don’t belong to this world. I belong to this industry, so I know that as long as you concentrate on your work, nothing else matters. But my family gets affected, and that’s the only thing I get worried about. Other than that, it doesn’t matter. I know that my work will always speak volumes. If I fall short on that front, I want to improve myself.”
