One actress who has regaled onscreen especially on songs sung by Lata Mangeshkar is none other than Saira Banu. Who can forget Ruk Jaa Aaye Hawa from Shagird or Dil Vil Pyaar Vyaar from the same film? Well, there are countless other songs that have been lip synced by this actress. Well, we are talking about none other than the very beautiful Saira Banu! Yes, you read it right!

In an interaction with ETimes, the beautiful yesteryear actress revealed details about Lataji’s last meeting with her husband the late Mr Dilip Kumar. She told the publication that she was elated when Lataji informed that she would like to come and spend sometime with Saheb (Dilip Saab), she calls the experience of her last meeting with her husband ‘magical’, “A flood of memories come to my mind as I remember the many joyful occasions when Lata ji and Dilip Saheb met at our house. Though the moments are all etched sharply in my mind, I’m going to describe the last meeting which happened some time in 2013 because it was very special, almost magical.

” Lata ji expressed a desire to come home and spend some time with Saheb and, needless to say, I was very thrilled. There was a time when she visited us whenever she was passing through Bandra and it was like a celebration for us because it was not just Dilip Saheb who was pleased to have her company. She was a favourite of my grandmother Shamshad Begum Sahiba, the famous Hindustani classical vocalist for whom Lata ji had great respect for.”

She went on to reveal that those were the days when Dilip saab wasn’t really keeping well and was in the habit of going to bed early and the catch was Lataji stated that she wouldbe arriving pretty late, “Now, she was visiting us after a long time and she was as anxious as I was since Saheb was not keeping good health and there were days when he slept early. She said she could make it very late in the evening along with her niece Rachana who would be free only after 7 pm or so. Well, she arrived and we hurried to Saheb’s exclusive sitting room.”

Sairaji went on to reveal that she was surprised to see Dilip saab waiting fior them with open arms! “To my joy, Saheb was eagerly waiting for us- his arms open, his eyes smiling and his face glowing with happiness. Evidently one of the attendants had informed him that he had a surprise visitor. “ Meri choti behen aayi hai,” he exclaimed and embraced her. It was like old times and I can still visualise the wonderful reunion in my mind. For a while they were silent, perhaps not knowing what to say to each other. Lata ji was speechless and so were all of us who were witness to the scene. When the tea and snacks arrived Lata ji fed him like she always did and he was so happy to relive the happy times they had spent in the past- be it at our house or the studios. She stayed on for as long as she could and I was thrilled by the magic she worked on Saheb who didn’t seem to be in a mood at all to retire for the night. As for me, I could have stayed awake all night.” she told the portal.

As we write this story, the legend has been cremated at Shivaji Park, Mumbai in the presence of family members, worshippers, fans, people from the film industry and politics.

The singer has been cremated with full state honours. The Maharashtra government has also announced two days of state mourning. During the mourning period the national flag will be flown at half-mast from February 6 to 7th throughout the country.

PM Narendra Modi arrived from Delhi to pay his last respects. The who’s who of the Bollywood film fraternity from Shah Rukh Khan to Ranbir Kapoor paid their last respects to the late singer.

It was Dr Pratit Samdani of Breah Candy hospital who announed the news of Lataji’s death on social media. He wrote, ““It is with profound grief that we announce the demise of Lata Mangeshkar at 8:12am. She has died because of multi-organ failure after more than 28 days of hospitalisation post #COVID19.”

The singer was admitted to the hospital after. She contracted COVID-19. The singer on whom the government of India had conferred the Bharat Ratna also suffered from pneumonia complications. Earlier the doctors in the hospital stated that her condition was improving however it was on 6th February that her doctor revealed that her condition has deteriorated and she has been kept in the ventilator. Dr. Pratik told the media, “We are treating her. Her condition is critical but she is tolerating and responding to the treatment.”

Her sister Asha Bhosle had also informed the media that her condition was improving, however the singer succumbed to her illness.

Today as the entire nation mourns her demise, we hope her family and close ones get the courage to bear with the loss. We also pray that her soul rests in peace.

Keeping in mind the power of social media, we are here to talk about Ranu Mondal, a poor lady from West Bengal’s Ranaghat. She used to live in the station and making a living out of that. The life of this lady changed when a video went viral, where she was singing the iconic Lata Mangeshkar song ‘Ek Pyar Nagma Hai’ at the railway station. Soon with the support of singer and music Composer Himesh Reshamiya, Ranu started singing songs for him and one of the songs called, “Teri Meri Kahani” was released in his film titled, ‘Happy Hardy And Heer’ in 2020. After this the new singer in Btown was invited in many singing reality shows and she gained both fame and trolls. Though this fame was short lived, soon everyone forgot about the singer and the rest is history. Now the life story of Ranu is being created to hit the big screens. Being directed by Hrishikesh Mondal, the biopic is titled as ‘Miss Ranu Maria’ starring actress Eshika Dey.

Eshika being a good actress has appeared on screen before in many bengali and hindi films. She was even a part of Saif Ali Khan’s ‘Lal Kaptan’
As stated by Times of India, Eshika said, “I wasn’t their first choice. It was Sudipta di (Chakraborty) who was supposed to be in the biopic, it was published everywhere in 2019, I guess. Maybe due to some problem with her schedule dates, Sudipta has stepped down. The film plan has been through a lot. It was initially planned in 2019 then 2020 happened and the lockdown was there. Now it’s being made in Hindi instead of Bengali. This time they approached me and I really had no idea. It was Shomin Ghosh who approached me and that’s it!”

Further the actress added, saying she is very excited about the film but she is afraid she’ll have to reduce 10kgs within 2 months for the film.  The actress said, “I’m going on a strict diet for 2 months, starting tomorrow with my dietician. Actually, this is the only thing about the film that I’m scared about. I love food and going by my social media posts, you will understand how much I love cooking and eating. Apart from food, there’s also going to be a whole change in my lifestyle with lots of exercise and meditation. It’s going to be a challenge with my personal life, as I stay alone in Mumbai; I don’t even have a maid or boyfriend.”

The film will start its shooting in November and is expected to release in theaters somewhere around March-April 2022. Let’s see how well the biopic would do. Would it face trolls or would it get the love it deserves after all the efforts the crew would make for the success of this film.
