‘Hindi Medium’ actress Saba Qamar who hails and works mostly in Pakistan is in legal trouble now. And along with him is the singer of Katrina starrer ‘Teri Khair Mangdi’, Bilal Saeed. Reportedly, bailable arrest warrants have been issued against Saba and Bilal for shooting a dance video at a historical mosque.

According to reports, Lahore’s magisterial court had issued a bailable warrant for Saba Qamar and Bilal Saeed for constantly avoiding the court hearings. The court adjourned the hearing till October 6. Last year, Lahore police had registered a case against both of them under Section 295 of the Pakistan Penal Code for the alleged ‘desecration’ of Masjid Wazir Khan in the old city of Lahore.

As per the FIR, both Saba and Bilal broke the rules by shooting a dance video in the holy mosque and this event did not go down well with the masses, so much that Qamar and Saeed started receiving death threats. Different religious parties including Jamaat-i-Islami had also held demonstrations in the city demanding ‘strict punishment’ to the artist couple for what they call committing sin.

In fact, reports further suggest that even the Punjab Government had also sacked two senior officers in connection with violation of the mosque’s sanctity. But, they later made a public apology for their act. Talking about the video shot in the mosque, Saba Qamar had said, “It was a music video featuring a Nikah (marriage) scene. It was neither shot with any sort of playback music nor has it been edited to the music track.”

Well, this is not the first time that the actress has landed herself in trouble, before this too, she had received death threats when she had worked in the biopic of social media sensation Qandeel Baloch. She received death threats on social media for her “un-Islamic” actions. She was warned on social media that she might face the fate of Qandeel Baloch who was killed by her brother in 2016 for ‘disgracing the family honour’.

In April this year, Saba Qamar had hit headlines for calling off her marriage with fiancé Azeem Khan. He is a Pakistani-Australian blogger and a businessman by profession. In a social media statement, the actress had revealed that she had never met Azeem Khan in her life and was calling off the wedding for ‘personal reasons’.

The Indian Army on Thursday held remembrance prayers at the renovated grave of Janab Maqbool Sherwani, a Kashmir youth who was killed by raiders from Pakistan in 1947 for delaying their march towards Srinagar on the Uri-Muzaffarabad highway.

The grave of Maqbool Sherwani is located in the old town, Baramulla. The Army began the renovation work of the grave in April 2021 and it now stands completed.

In November 1947, the raiders from Pakistan were indulging in plunder, raid, and murder of innocent people in Kashmir. Maqbool Sherwani had successfully misguided the raiders on to the wrong path when he was asked to guide them towards Srinagar airport.

Maqbool Sherwani and his volunteers, comprising various communities with no military training, set up roadblocks and demolished bridges, thus protecting the fastest access to Srinagar. When the raiders realized that they have been misled, they caught Maqbool Sherwani, mutilated his body, and crucified him before firing 14 bullets on it.

The body was nailed to a plank and tied till the Indian Army got it down. Maqbool Sherwani died on November 7, 1947.

Two weeks after his death, Mahatma Gandhi paid tribute to him in a prayer meeting in Delhi to honor him.
