Earlier Television actor and model Gehana Vasisth and two other people were also summoned for questioning by the Mumbai branch.

Bombay High court had given its verdict on Raj Kundra and Ryan Thorpe to judicial custody for 14 days. This was announced on July 27.

It was also informed prior by the officials that few of Kundra’s employees have turned off against him and they will give witness in the pornographic case. The actor will soon take responsibility of few more cases against him like face money laundering and Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA) cases and Enforcement Directorate (ED).

The 45 year old businessman, has been named as the key conspirator by the Mumbai police and has several charges against him. He is arrested under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

The actress has now approached the Bombay High Court against certain media houses for justice as she believes and alleges that her reputation has been maligned because if false reports against her.

Raj Kundra was arrested by the Mumbai police on 19th July for being involved in the making and distribution of adult film content. Many related stories were making headlines since then and now wife Shilpa Shetty has filed a defamation case

According to media reports, she has said, her reputation her reputation has been harmed in the public eyes including her fans, peers and followers. She further stated that her reputation is an inextricable part of her right to life under Article 21 of the constitution of India and some media houses should be permanently banned foe sharing false reports with the public.

According to ANI, “Actor Shilpa Shetty has filed defamation suit in Bombay High Court against 29 media personnel & media houses for ‘doing false reporting & maligning her image’ in a pornography case in which her husband Raj Kundra is accused. Hearing in the case scheduled for tomorrow”

The plea also stated, “A bare perusal of the Defamatory Articles and Defamatory Videos amply clarify that the Defendants are publishing/ uploading parallel private “investigations” and effectively acting as “courts” to condemn the Applicant and her husband as guilty based on what they claim is “evidence” found by them from their alleged sources, thereby trying to make a mockery of the judicial system.”

Coming back to the case, several people were arrested, but Mumbai police has named Raj Kundra as the key conspirator which has slapped charges against him under Sections 420 (cheating), 34 (common intention), 292 and 293 (related to obscene and indecent advertisements and displays) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) besides relevant sections of the IT Act and the Indecent Representation of Women (Prohibition) Act.

It is also reported that Raj Kundra’s police custody in reference to the adult film racket will end on Tuesday but the crime branch will be seeking extension of their custody from court today in the morning.

The crime branch has recent came across an evidence during an investigation against an employee who was also involved in distribution of around 90 films.

According to Times Of India, while investigating , the team have come across Arvind Srivastava was reportedly alleged for distributing about 90 adult films in Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradesh for the last two years. He was also employed in Raj Kundra’s application firm. The person’s bank statement is kept as a prove which shows that he was responsible for transferring crores to bank accounts of Harshita Srivastava and Narvada Srivastava.

The Baazigar actress and Raj Kundra had a huge argument with the crime branch while they raided their home related to the case. According to Shilpa Shetty, she was completely blank about the fact that her husband was running a pornographic app. A source in Mumbai Police said, “Shattered Shilpa told Kundra that due to his actions the family name is getting defamed and their endorsements in the industry are being cancelled and the family is facing huge financial losses. She asked him what was the need of doing such things when they achieved a standing in society”

The police also doubts that that crores that they earned from apps like “Hotspot” and “Bollyfame” were invested in biotins.

The Mumbai police commissioner said, “Mr.Kundra is the key conspirator in the case and there is enough evidence against him”. There was a case registered with the Crime Branch in February, this year about the creation and publishing of pornographic films through apps. Further investigation is in progress”.

After his arrest, Raj’s previous tweets about ‘porn vs prostitution’ from 2012 are going viral on social media.

In his tweets, he had questioned, “why it was authorized to pay somebody for intercourse on digicam, asking how prostitution was totally different from porn”.

He had written, “Okay so right here go’s Porn Vs Prostitution. Why is it authorized to pay somebody for intercourse on digicam? How is one totally different to the opposite??  Actors are enjoying cricket, Cricketers are enjoying politics, Politicians are watching porn and Porn stars have gotten actors….!”.

Actress Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra has recently been arrested due to his connections with some of these OTT platforms that showcased pornographic content under the garb of short films. Yes, you read that right. NEWS18 reported, Kundra was arrested on Monday night by the Mumbai police who stated that the case was filed in the month of February 2021 and that Kundra was the “Key conspirator” in the matter. They have also revealed that they have sufficient evidence against the businessman who was arrested after several hours of investigation.
The Commissioner of Mumbai police Hemant Nagrale stated, “There was a case registered with Crime Branch Mumbai in February 2021 about creation of pornographic films and publishing them through some apps. We’ve arrested Mr Raj Kundra in this case on 19/7/21 as he appears to be the key conspirator of this. We have sufficient evidences regarding this. Investigation is in progress.”
Besides Kundra 10 others have been arrested in the case so far. I t was not long before that the Property Cell of the Mumbai Police recently busted a gang that was involved in making porn videos under the pretext of producing short films for OTT (over-the-top) platforms. They had also taken actor Gehana Vasisth under arrest along with eight others in the case.
The crime branch further stated that after the shoot of these porn videos, the accused used to send them to a foreign company using ‘WeTransfer’ and then they would be uploaded on these various OTT platforms to fool the Indian law. It was during the investigation that the Mumbai police arrested a man who identified as Umesh Kamath, who was also an aide of Kundra. It was after his arrest Kundra’s key role in the porn racket came to the fore, but due to the lack of evidence Kundra wasn’t arrested then.
Another officer from the crime branch stated, ““Our team worked on it closely after filing the first charge sheet in the case. During the probe, we found that the accused, in fact, sent WeTransfer files abroad sitting in Kundra’s office.”
The crime branch also revealed that initially these production houses would lure newbie actors by assuring them meaty roles in films but would later make them do porn instead. Sources informed NEWS18 that that accused used to earn Rs 2-3 lakh per video and the victims were just paid Rs 20,000-Rs 25,000.
Umesh Kamath who was earlier arrested by the property cell of the Mumbai crime branch was the managing director of VIAAN industries in which Kundra is the chairman and non-executive director. the report further states that the Mumbai crime branch also arrested a Surat based C-Grade filmmaker Tanvir Hashmi alias Tan on 10th February 2021. Tan had so far directed 8 such films and he used his contacts to trick aspiring actors into pornography. The report also states that during the robe it was also found that he shot pornographic videos and sent them to the UK based company called Kernin Limited through Kamath.
The OTT apps on which these porn videos used to be uploaded through foreign IPs were HotShot, Nuefliks, HotHit and escapenow.tv. The police has also seized Rs 5.68 Lakhs worth equipment which were used to shoot porn videos in a bungalow.
