The lady who is known for creating transformative looks for actors in numerous films like Bajirao Mastani, Padmaavat, Housefull 4, Haider, Rangoon, Mom, 102 Not Out, Thackeray, Bala and Chhichhore, has once again outdone herself curating various looks for Bunty Aur Babli 2.

“It’s been a roller coaster ride,” quips Preetisheel, who recently also acquired a lot of critical acclaim for the various characters played by Divya Agarwal in the ALTBalaji web series Cartel. “When the pandemic hit, everyone was worried about the pace of the film industry. But the way things are picking up, it’s as if we are rolling at double the speed. And I for one, am not complaining,” she cheerfully adds.

Of course she has all the reason to celebrate. It’s been one of the most momentous years for her. Chhichhore won a National Award for best film, her Tamil action thriller where she curated the look for Southern superstar Vijay broke box-office records, and apart from Bunty Aur Babli 2, she has got yet another huge project in Allu Arjun’s multilingual Pushpa: The Rise – Part 1 coming up for release.

For the record, apart from being the No. 1 hair, makeup and prosthetic look designer in Bollywood, she runs India’s premier outfit Da Makeup Lab along with her partner husband Mark D’Souza. The lab’s building is a landmark in the posh Versova locality of Mumbai.

Directed by Pavan Kirpalani and produced by Ramesh Taurani and Akshai Puri, the trailer of this film offered a horror-comedy montage with a pinch of madness. Arjun while talking about this film in a recent interview expressed, “So, it wasn’t like I was looking to do this genre, script-wise. When I read it, what jumped for me was the camaraderie between the brothers, the banter and the friction. The fact that they both really don’t get along – it was really nice and interesting. You generally have two con men who think alike and get along. Here there is a reluctant conman, who wants to be straight, and you have a conman who believes life is exactly about this – you got to play on people’s fears and use it to your advantage. I quite liked the love-hate relation and the tone of the adventure. I took it on because of him (Saif). I got excited about working with him.”

Following the latest updates, the actress is expected to make her first public appearance very soon. It is anticipated that Shilpa will also join Bollywood as well as international stars like Arjun Kapoor, Karan Johar, Ed Sheeran, Sara Ali Khan, Steven Speilberg and Saif Ali Khan for a COVID-19 relief fundraiser.

A virtual event called: We For India: Saving Lives and Protecting Livelihoods is set for Sunday, August 15. The funds from this event will be used to supply facilities like oxygen concentrators, cylinders, ventilators, essential medicines, and ICU units. Funds will also go towards supporting the staffing of vaccination centres. Donations are also expected to support long-term public recovery and rebuild livelihoods.

Speaking further about the movie, he added that Vishal Bhardwaj is a magician. The way he makes his actors perform makes his films timeless classics. He involves himself with his cast and crew and the story. If everybody is in sync, one would realise how Vishal Ji, as a magician, will bring out the kind of performance from you that you’ve never thought you would do. He will leave you surprised. We had some of the most commercial actors in Omkara, but today, all you see are the characters of the story. Vishal Ji can create magic every time he sits on a director’s chair, or even with his music. I learnt to act like an actual human on screen from Vishal ji, I am not an actor when on set.”

In a conversation with another news portal, Actor Vivek Oberoi who played the role of Keshav in the movie said he is an actor who is more into perception and content. I had read a quote in film school that said “There are no small roles, only small actors, and that stuck. If I hadn’t played the role of Keshav Upadhyay, I’d have felt like I missed something,”

He further added: “It was an amazing experience. Vishal Bhai and I have always had a great equation and we were looking to collaborate on doing something together. I loved what he had done in Maqbool (2004) and Makdi (2002). He called me one day and said he was planning to make a film on the play Othello. I went over to hang out and he told me the basic story,” reminisces the actor.

While shooting Bhardwaj had promised Oberoi that he would win an award for his role in the film and it turned out to be true. Oberoi said, “He hugged me after my first shot and said, ‘You’re going to win an award for this. I was like really? And it came through, I won it [for Best Supporting Actor].”

The diva of Bollywood had delivered her 1st child on 20th December 2016, and named him Taimur Ali Khan. The toddler is an internet sensation since birth and is always surrounded by the journalists.
