Neeraj was selected as the flag bearer for tje opening ceremony where he represented India at the 2018 Asian Games, which marked his first Asian Games appearance

Subedar is the first Indian athlete to ever win a World title in Track and Field at U-20.  This athlete from Haryana has won gold medals in Olympic games, Asia Games, World Championship, Commonwealth Games, South Asian Games and World Junior Championship.

Even after the elbow injury, his throw of 87.86m had guaranteed his ticket to the Tokyo Olympics. He proudly marched to the finals by qualifying the qualification round with a throw of 86.65m.

In his very first attempt today, Neeraj was on top of the list with throw of 87.03m, followed by Weber Julian of Germany with the throw of 85.30m, Vadlejch Jakub of Czech Republic with the throw of 83.98, Vetter Johannes of Germany with the throw of 82.52m and Katkavets Aliaksei with the throw of 82.49m,of Belarus.
In the 2nd round Neeraj Chopra bettered his first score with 87.58m which is the highest in the finals. However, in the third round, he finished at 76.79 m, which was still good.

Neeraj on winning said, “If you watch the throws again, you can see it’s not the right surface for me. It’s a good surface for all the runners, for all the nice world records and Olympic records on the track, but not for a javelin thrower like me. So it really makes me sad.” This statement felt like the athlete wanted to say he could have done better if the tracks were proper for the javelin throwers.

Citizens couldn’t be happier with this win. The wrestler’s win is being celebrated with full spirit. People are congratulating and showing their love and respect for Dahiya through social media. Even the celebs of Bollywood hailed Ravi for his determination.

Randeep Hooda, who has been closely following the Olympics, tweeted, “Kasuta ladya bhai Ravi Dahiya!! #Olympics #Silver #RaviKumarDahiya #Wrestling #ravidhaiya.”

Taapsee Pannu tweeted, “It’s silver for our Ravi Dahiya!” with several hand clap emojis. Kareena Kapoor Khan also praised Dahiya as she shared a photo of the Indian wrestler flying the Indian flag high.

At the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, India has won 5 medals till now. Three bronzes and two silvers. Apart from Dahiya, Mirabai Chanu won silver in weightlifting, P.V. Sindhu won bronze in badminton, and Borgohain Lovlinae won bronze in boxing. In the end, Indian Men’s Hockey won a bronze medal in hockey after 41 long years and created history.
