Zoya Akhtar to launch star kids Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor & Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda in her next digital venture

It has been a long time since we saw the Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara director, Zoya Akhtar, put on her creative hats. Now rumours about her directing a new film are doing the rounds.

The fun part is that Zoya will soon be directing Shah Rukh Khan’s daughter. Yes, you read that right. Well, in an exclusive Pinkvilla report it was revealed that Akhtar will be directing the star kids, Suhana Khan, Khushi Kapoor, and Amitabh Bachchan’s grandson Agastya Nanda in her next digital project which is based on the international comic book “Archie”.

A source close to the filmmaker revealed, “Agastya has always been inclined towards acting and after completing basic education, is all geared up to live his acting dream. Contrary to the conventional mode of entering the world of showbiz, Agastya will first appear in Zoya’s directorial for the digital world and then move onto the big screen spectacles. He is already prepping for the role and if things go as planned, he is all set to play the titular role of Archie in Zoya’s feature film for Netflix,”.

While more information about Khushi and Suhana’s role in the film has been kept behind the wraps, a strong buzz suggests that the two would play the role of Betty and Veronica respectively.

At present, the director is busy working on the script and will certainly start shooting for the film by this year. “With so much uncertainty around the theatrical medium, Zoya will complete her digital venture first and only then move onto her much-awaited gangster drama, which is said to feature Ranveer Singh and Katrina Kaif in lead,” the source added.

While everyone is talking about the three-star kids making a debut with a digital film, a source close to Zoya revealed that the whole idea is to make a debut without the pressures of number games to ensure that the youngsters win over the audience with their talents first and then take the bigger step forward to the big screens.

Apart from this, Zoya is also involved in the Salim-Javed documentary for Netflix. It’s said to be one of the most ambitious projects chronicling the journey of India’s greatest writer duo, with a co-production between Excel Entertainment and Salman Khan Films.

Priyanka Chopra Jonas, Alia Bhatt and Katrina Kaif are collaborating for Farhan Akhtar’s directorial comeback titled Jee Le Zaraa. This would be the third travel-themed film made by Excel Movies, after Dil Chahta hai and Zindagi na Milegi Dobara.

The entire team of Jee Le Zaraa took it to their social media platforms to announce the film. Priyanka, Alia, Katrina and Farhan shared a motion poster for the film. The poster featured Alia, Katrina and Priyanka’s names along with a car made from a collage of numerous locations in India.

Sharing the post, Alia said: “Did someone say road trip? #JeeLeZaraa.” Farhan shared the poster and wrote, “Did someone say road trip? Thrilled to announce my next film as director and what better day than 20 years of Dil Chahta Hai to do it. #JeeLeZaraa with @priyankachopra @katrinakaif @aliaabhatt will commence filming in 2022 and I cannot wait to get this show on the road.”

Jee Le Zaraa would mark Farhan’s directorial comeback after over a decade. Farhan’s last directional film was Don 2 featuring Shah Rukh Khan, after which the filmmaker shifted his gears and pursued acting. The film is written by Zoya Akhtar, Farhan Akhtar and Reema Kagti; produced by Reema, Zoya Ritesh Sidhwani and Farhan. It is expected to be released in 2023.

Complaint launched against Anurag Kashyap’s “Ghost Stories”: “This is the end” he wrote

A complaint has been reported against Anurag Kashyap’s short film, which is on Netflix’s “Ghost Stories.”
Netflix India has received a complaint about Anurag’s short film which was released in the 2020 anthology, “Ghost Stories”. This is a prime example of grievances registered after the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting formulated the Information Technology (Guidelines for Intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics and Code) rule in 2021 earlier this year.

Ghost stories are an anthology of horror films. It follows up the filmmaker’s 2018 anthology Lust Stories.
The complaint has objected to a scene in the short film in which Shobhita Dhulipala’s character eats a foetus after suffering a miscarriage. The complaint notes, “The scene is not required for the story, and if the creators wished to add such a scene, there should have been a trigger warning for women who have gone through the trauma of miscarriages.”
According to reports, complaints must be registered within 24 hours and addressed at the earliest. The report quoted the Netflix India spokesperson as saying, “As this was a partner-managed production [RSVP Movies and Flying Unicorn Entertainment], we reached out to the production company to share the complaint.”

Before the rules, OTT and digital platforms were largely unregulated. With the introduction of new laws, many believe it to be an effort to moderate and impose restrictions on digital creators. “So it started… A complaint came to Netflix on Ghost Stories. This is the end,” Anurag wrote in an Instagram Story that is no longer visible on his profile but was viewed by MediaNama.
Netflix has in the past received a lot of backlash for shows like A Suitable Boy and Sacred, while Prime videos have experienced the same with Family Man and Tandav.
