The 76 years old veteran actress Jayanthi, famously known as ‘Abhinaya Sharadhe’ passed away in her sleep this morning. She made her acting debut with the Kanada movie Jenu Goodu in 1963 and was featured in more than 500 movies.
In the second week of July, Jayanti was admitted to a hospital after complaining about breathing difficulties. However, the actress recovered very soon. She has been an asthma patient for more than 35 years now. Her son Krishna Kumar confirmed the news of her death and said that she was recovering from illness, but peacefully passed away in her sleep.
Jayanthi was one of the legendary actors of the Tamil, Kannada, Malayalam, Hindi and Marathi industries. She played iconic characters in movies Kasturi Nivasa, Miss Leelavathi, Sri Krishnadvaraya, Edakallu Guddada Mele and also shared screens with NT Rama Rao, MG Ramachandra, Raj Kumar and Rajnikanth.
